Single Of The Week
Depeche Mode: “Just Can’t Get Enough” (Mute). Bubblegum is back! OK, the title’s embarrassingly banal, and its repetition throughout the song gets very wearing, but the thing as a whole is hugely enjoyable, bouncy and boppy and very close to irritating. The latter quality is essential in bubblegum; it’s got to get on your nerves a bit, to be annoyingly catchy, and the record is. A hit of generous proportions – those baby faces will be back on TOTP before you can say “the Archies”.
