Hello, and Happy New Year to you all!

Welcome to the first news letter of 1987.

Depeche Mode had a wonderful Christmas and New Year with their families and ended up with a big party on 29 December with all their friends.

This is going to be an exciting year for all you fans!

The best news that I can give you is that at long last Depeche Mode will be going back on the road!

Here is some info, regarding the band’s activities this year.

The Group have been in Paris since 2 February, recording a new Album and will be there fore approximately 6 weeks.

They will be using a different Recording Engineer, Dave Bascombe, who has engineered records for artists like Peter Gabriel and Tears For Fears.

This change of engineer could mark a change in emphasis of the Depeche Mode sound!

RECORD PLUS TOUR NEWS.

A new single will be released about April 27th, and an Album September!

This will be followed by a World Tour, which will start in Europe and take in America, Australia, Japan and possibly Eastern Europe and South America.

They will be Touring in the U.K at the end of 1987. This World Tour could last for 6 months or more.

QUESTIONS ANSWERED

1) Many fans wrote in asking if Alan passed his driving test. Guess what! Alan passed his driving test first time on 31st Dec! and has bought a Vintage Citroen, which requires some work, before he can drive it. Let’s wish him luck!

2) Also some of you wrote in asking, where the photos in the Calendar were taken.

They were taken during shows on the last U.K. Tour, with exception of August, which was taken on a demolition site in Manchester.

In the next news letter we will be featuring current news items, Record and Tour news, a competition, and lots lots more, also we will be revealing the Group’s nicknames!

DEPECHE MODE INFO SERVICE.

[1] - Only a few copies of this box set were ever pressed, and they are consequently worth a tidy bob or two.
[2] - This will be Something To Do (the Metalmix, judging by the section heading).
